iPad Novel Writing Project,
iPad apps for writers The following is part of my iPad Novel Writing Project, in which I attempt to outline and write a middle grade novel from scratch on my iPad.
I've started creating a rough outline of my story using Manuscript's add/edit chapter feature. Clicking on "ADD CHAPTER" lets you add a chapter title and a brief description.
My plan: to use this feature to write a brief summary of the action in each chapter. I like the fact that the list of chapters includes a brief excerpt from each chapter summary, and that I can rearrange the chapters in any order.
What I don't like:
- Dropdown chapter editing box is small, so you can only see a few chapters at a time without having to scroll.
- Because the chapter editing box is so small, rearranging the order of the chapters is a pain, especially if you have a lot of chapters.
- When you add a chapter, the new chapter goes to the END of the chapter list...again, a pain if you have a lot of chapters.
I think I'm going to look for another iPad app to do my outlining. More in an upcoming post...
