Recent projects

January 7, 2013: After some hard thought, I've decided to officially shut down this blog. I know I haven't updated it in a while, but I thought I should let you all know so you can remove it from your RSS feeds, etc.

Reason: I've decided that I need to find ways to make more time to read and create books.

I had great fun working on illustrating I'M BORED (written by Michael Ian Black, published by Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers in Sept/2012) and am now working on writing and/or illustrating new book projects. In addition to my picture book projects, I also want to get back to my novel writing.

My challenge: I want to do too many things and am currently involved in too many projects. My solution: To prioritize and cull.

You can find out what I'm working on at or follow me on Twitter at @inkyelbows.

Thanks so much for your support and interest in my projects.

Temporary DNS woes at

Some DNS problems have cropped up and I won't be able to deal with them properly until after the SCBWI conference. Apologies for any non-working links! Be assured that the problem should be fixed (fingers crossed) soon.

Drew this using the Autodesk Sketchbook Pro app with a Pogo Sketch Stylus, then uploaded from Sketchbook Pro from my iPad into Flickr.

Study: iPad Users do most of their reading between 7-11 pm

Reading our iPads in bed

From Reflections Of A Newsosaur and the Read It Later blog:

A study by the company that makes Read It Later found that iPad use was heavily concentrated between 7-11pm. Newsosaur Alan D. Mutter notes that although the research is limited to a specific sample of people (those who use Read It Later), if wider research shows the same result, then "newspaper publishers may want to consider producing products that come out early in the evening, instead of in the morning or after their print products are put to bed at midnight."

Nomad Brush for the iPad

Nomad Brush for the iPad from Don Lee on Vimeo.

Not a lot of info available on this, but it's supposed to be available next month. Wondering how it's supposed to work -- I really hope that the brush bristles somehow DO interact with the screen.

I just heard good things about this handwriting app from a writer friend, so I'm going to check it out.
