I think I said this the last check-in, but the Story a Day challenge and this have both made a big difference in how much I've been writing. I'm putting down a lot of stuff, granted it's spread out over three projects but I'm writing on them every day. I'm also getting to the really exciting parts of my book where things get actiony, so that's probably a factor as well.
Thanks again for doing this! It's made a big difference in my writing habits.
I had a successful first week at doing this challenge, but am a little nervous that the honeymoon phase of writing 500 words a day will wear off soon and things will become more difficult. Hopefully this bit of accountability will be just the encouragement I need to keep with it and develop good writing habits.
It's been a good week when I've been working, but I've also been sick (head cold, laryngitis) so it's been patchy: I managed about half the time I wanted to on my book.
Still, I've made good progress on scene outlines for the second draft and had some important insights on plot and character details so I am pleased with the progress I've made.
I just hate being unable to think.
I know I said I was getting back on track during May. However the sudden death of my very healthy Papaw (who I was very close to) has sidetracked pretty much everything right now. Hopefully this week will find some writing time. However my need for escape has sent me heavily into reading whenever left alone which will be good for my writing in the long run.
My 500 words a day for the week before last was grim - 3/7 (fail!)Last week improved a little - 4/7.This week's started off well - now to keep it up...
Last week didn't go that well for me, I only wrote my 500 words a day for four days. This said, the problem was clearly that my husband went away for the weekend, and I have always problems when things aren't routine. (It is a bit unfair to blame it on him though, I could have written if I had wanted to.)I'm also again in a place in the story where I feel it's dumb, totally arbitrary and there are even more guns and helicopters. Tsk.
I'm at about 49,000 words with this story though which is quite impressive.
This week will be interesting, and then there will probably be two weeks of nothing but good intentions because we'll travel and I won't be taking my computer. I do have a plan, though.
i just finished my first draft of my first novel and i tried to get 1000 words every time i say down at the computer. most of the time this turned into 1500 words. of course this wasnt daily work but some times it would be 3 or 4 times a week. having a consistent word count goal i feel is very important.
